MEET YOUR FLORIST
Hello! My name is Danielle Thurn and I would like to thank you for visiting Blooms website! I am the owner and a professional designer at Blooms – Flowers, Gifts & More in Edgewood, Iowa. I also have a very talented staff that is more than willing and able to help you.
Blooms is a full service flower & gift store – we design unique & personalized arrangements for weddings, funerals, proms, seasonal & for any special event or everyday occasion. We offer a fantastic gift line which includes silk arrangements, decorative items for your home, sympathy gifts, wind chimes, balloons, a large assortment of wine, Russell Stover candy, scarves, jewelry, candles, baby gifts and much, much more! We deliver to many towns in our surrounding area.
I have been involved in the floral industry for over 20 years. I grew up in Colesburg, Iowa and helped at my parent’s nursery “The Hosta Leaf” and I also worked at a local flower shop part-time during high school. After high school, I obtained a Floral Careers diploma, as well as a Landscape, Nursery and Garden Center Management degree from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. While at Kirkwood, I was President of the Forget-Me-Nots Floral Club and won best of show in our annual design contest. I was also honored to be the guest commentator for the 2009 Kirkwood Design show. Upon graduating from college, I returned to Edgewood and pursued my career in the floral industry, married my high school sweetheart and now have two wonderful children.
My dream was always to own my own store one day, and through a series of events, that dream became a reality. I had an opportunity to purchase a building in Edgewood in March of 2013. A major renovation was done by my family to the entire building (both inside and out). Blooms officially opened the doors on December 4, 2013 and the support of the Edgewood & Colesburg communities, as well as the surrounding areas, has been amazing.

Edgewood and Colesburg are great communities to live in and I am so happy that I can call both of these places home. I try to give back to the communities as much as I can. Currently, I am a member of Edgewood Economic Development, a board member on the Colesburg Commercial Club, past-president of the Edgewood Women’s Club, a member of the Edgewood Garden Club, coordinator of the Edgewood Retail Committee, chairperson of Edgewood Trees Forever, a member of the pool committee and also help with as many other organizations and events as I can.

I look forward to working with you in the future and would like to leave you with a phrase that I live by:
“You’re not here to suffer… to hunger… to cry… to hope… to wish… to try. You’re here to thrive, and the entire Universe is on your side.”
